Regular brush cleaning will prevent product build-up, as well as curtail blemish or irritation-causing bacteria. Clean your brushes with a mild soap like dish detergent or baby shampoo. There are some cleansers on the market that have been formulated for the specific purpose of cleaning makeup brushes. Once they are washed and rinsed well, they can be blotted with a towel, reshaped and left on a clean towel or surface to dry. Once they are dry and ready for use, store them in a container with the brush heads up. For carrying during vacations and on-the-go touch-ups, use a brush roll.
