Chrome Diopside – The Color of Money

Chrome diopside is no subtle gemstone. If you are looking for attention, you will get attention. You can take that to the bank. Now, chrome diopside does not only come in green. Depending on impurities and coloring agents, it can actually occur in a variety of colors – black to near black, a rare violet-blue and light yellowish-green to medium dark green.

Chrome Diopside is actually relatively new to the gemstone world. Only discovered 28 years ago, it was sourced in one location at the time – Russia’s Eastern Siberia. It now can be found in various other locations around the world, most notably in Pakistan, which is now considered a significant supplier. When chrome diopside first hit the European gemstone market, dealers immediately went crazy for its attractiveness and growing green color. It was often compared to other more expensive green gemstones. Chrome Diopside’s color was soon be rivaled to that of tsavorite and tourmaline.
