Spring Hill Nurseries 10-Piece "Pieton", "Flore Pleno" & "Broken Heart" Lily Collection

Includes three different types of lilies: Oriental, Tiger and Asiatic. Lilies are great for planting in beds and borders, or for planting among shrubs, along walls or fences. Plus, they are excellent for contrast at the back of a border or garden or when planted in front of large evergreens or shrubs. These bulbs will all produce long-lasting flowers that are outstanding-even in patio containers that can be moved indoors when in bloom or left on the patio for those special events. They will produce multiple blooms on 4-5' stems in July through September on a yearly basis. Plus, they are excellent for cuts for use in bouquets.

Two "Broken Heart" Double Oriental Lilies
Four "Flore Pleno" Double Tiger Lilies
Four "Pieton" Asiatic Lilies

1) Dig a hole deep enough to allow the dormant bulb to be covered with 1" of soil.

2) Place bulb in hole and cover with soil, firming soil with fingers.

5) Water thoroughly. If natural rainfall is less than 1" per week, additional watering is recommended.

Apply plant food at a rate of 5 lbs per 100 sq. ft. of garden. It is also for use on seeded plantings. After the seeds have emerged, broadcast general purpose over the desired area at above rate and incorporate into the soil.

You can even start your winter mulch upon transplanting. As a mulched bed retains moisture and also helps keep down the weeds. A 2-4" layer of shredded bark or compost is ideal for this and will also maintain soil temperature.

Keep the area around your plants free of weeds. Weeds compete with all plants for food, water and light. Walk around the garden periodically and pull weeds, including the roots as soon as you see them. Mulch also assists in keeping weeds down.

Remove spent blooms and clip off unsightly or dead growth to maintain the vine in good form and shape. Flowering starts in the summer on new growth. Prune in the spring to within 1' of the ground. This encourages more new growth for summer through fall bloom.

Add 1 tablespoon to soil in hole and mix thoroughly before planting the transplant. Scratch fertilizer at above rate into surface once they start flowering/fruiting. For existing garden, broadcast around existing plants and incorporate into soil at the above rate. Apply at the beginning of growing season and again when plants start to bear vegetables.

Winter-hardy. After frost causes the foliage to wither and die, cut back the stalks to ground level. Oriental Lilies are winter-hardy perennials and will send up new stalks late the following spring/early summer. After you cut back to the ground in the fall you can still mulch if you feel that this is necessary. However, remove the mulch in the spring as soon as temperatures start to rise.
