Spring Hill Nurseries 20-Piece Ozark Beauty Strawberry Plant Collection w/ Pyramid Planter

We just love the "Lip-Smackin" Ozark Beauty and have never found a better variety even with the latest introductions. They reliably yield abundant crops from spring until frost. Ozarks also yield tastier, deep red, firm berries just right in sweetness. You can savor that rich, satisfying strawberry flavor fresh or frozen. So productive that more than 200 blossom, buds and berries have been on a single plant. Each and every plant will produce superior crops and higher quality fruits half-again bigger in size than any found elsewhere.

  • Ideal for those with limited garden space, or to bring the garden closer to them.
  • Growing room for small spaces. Great for apartments, balconies, decks, porches or beds.
  • Bring your harvest or flowers to you. Elevated plants make them easier to see or harvest. Typically, no weeding is required.
  • Grow more in less space multiple varieties in one pyramid.
  • Once season is over, simply remove all non-hardy annuals and vegetables and fold flat for easy storage.
  • Heavy-duty, non-woven geo-textiles are machine sewn with reinforced seams, allowing for air and water exchange, as well as heat dissipation.
  • Since the tub is made from a porous material you cannot over water plants.
  • Can be placed anywhere. Put the pyramid on your patio, deck or porch. It can even be placed directly in a garden bed or bare soil or anywhere in your yard especially when planted with garden hardy strawberries or perennials which you will want to keep from year to year.
  • Because the strawberries hang from the pyramid, they are easy to locate and pick. The quality of the fruit is also generally better from this planter because the fruit does not touch the soil as it does in the garden. The pyramid measures 12" x 12" at the base and is 20" high, and has 16 pre-cut planting holes. Just fill the pyramid with good garden loam and plant.

    1) Find a sunny spot where you will want to set up your pyramid which will require 16 quarts of soil.

    2) Then place paper on the floor where you want to set it up before filling with soil. This mat will also allow you to capture any soil that spills while filling the pyramid.

    3) Save any excess soil. Prepare to plant as you fill the pyramid so that as the soil line is level with the pre-cut planting holes you can easily insert the dormant plants and spread the roots before proceeding to add more soil which will then cover the roots. Also be sure to angle the roots slightly upward to allow for setting of soil.

    4) It is best to start planting from the bottom up. The top would be the last section to plant, using two to three plants evenly spaced. (Be sure to mix 1 tablespoon of plant food to the soil when you are halfway up the pyramid and another tablespoon at the top).

    5) When fully planted water thoroughly. Some soil will spill out of the holes, so care must be taken to water gently. Check soil moisture frequently, as container plantings tend to dry out more quickly.

Never let your new transplants dry out. Especially if grown in containers. Your strawberries require 1" of rainfall (or equivalent watering) each week. In containers exposed to full sun you will have to water at least every other day during periods of extreme heat or possibly even every day.

Apply plant food at a rate of 5 lbs per 100 sq. ft. of garden. It is also for use on seeded plantings. After the seeds have emerged, broadcast general purpose over the desired area at above rate and incorporate into the soil.

Keep the area around your plants free of weeds. Weeds compete with all plants for food, water and light. Walk around the garden periodically and pull weeds, including the roots as soon as you see them. Mulch also assists in keeping weeds down.

Remove spent blossoms promptly to promote additional blooming. Pinch off blooms when they are no longer attractive, but take care to leave as much foliage as possible.

Add 1 tablespoon to soil in hole and mix thoroughly before planting the transplant. Scratch fertilizer at above rate into surface once they start flowering/fruiting. For existing garden, broadcast around existing plants and incorporate into soil at the above rate. Apply at the beginning of growing season and again when plants start to bear vegetables.

Hardy in ground in zones 4 through 9. During the winter months, when temperatures will fall below freezing, move your Pyramid into an unheated garage or an enclosed porch or a cool basement and water enough to keep soil from drying out. Then as the weather warms in the spring, bring your Planter out in the sun and fertilize.
