About Hurricane Holders:
The chimney design of a hurricane holder was originally created to protect a candle or oiled wick flame from the wind. For years, this type of lamp was used to light homes, before the invention of gas and electric lighting. Hurricane holders were also used to light ships and catch the attention of those on shore. The difference between a hurricane holder and lantern are the enclosed top and carrying loop that you'll find on a lantern. Bring the nostalgia of a bygone era into your home with this hurricane holder.

About the Decades by Waterford Collection:
Currently design director and global spokesperson for Waterford Crystal, in 2010 Jim O'Leary celebrates his 50th anniversary with the company. To celebrate this milestone, Waterford has created the Decades Collection. Each piece in the collection draws inspiration from a period of O'Leary's career with the company, from the 1960s to the 21st century. In the words of O'Leary, "It is only by being of its time that Waterford Crystal can aspire to be timeless. What endures is not a single look or style, but a way of putting ancient skills to new uses in order to create designs that move beyond mere fashion to achieve lasting style."

About Jim O'Leary:
Currently design director and global spokesperson for Waterford Crystal, Jim O'Leary started his career with the company as an apprentice and became a master cutter by the age of 24. In 1980, O'Leary joined the legendary design team and began traveling to the United States, where he has charmed generations of collectors ever since. Under his direction, Waterford has become known to the world as an enduring symbol of quality, tradition and modernity with timeless designs that add significance and beauty to the home.

Care Instructions:
Fine crystal should be hand washed separately in warm soapy water, rinsed thoroughly and dried with a lint-free cloth. We do not recommend using a dishwasher to clean your crystal as it can dull and damage the surface. Avoid pouring iced liquids or very hot water into crystal as extreme temperatures can crack or break your crystal. The finely made rims are the most fragile part of your crystal. Do not turn upside down while drying or storing.
